Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Locate Technician to join our team in Topeka, KS. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field.Key ResponsibilitiesLocate and mark underground utilities such as gas, water, electric, and telecommunications lines using specialized equipment and maps.Respond promptly to locate requests and ensure accurate and timely completion of assignments.Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders to coordinate locate activities.Maintain detailed records of locate activities, including maps, reports, and photographs.Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure personal safety.Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.Assist in training new technicians as needed.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.Knowledge of underground utility systems and local regulations.Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.Proficient in the use of locating equipment and technology.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical activity such as walking, bending, and lifting.
