Lifeguard

Reports To: Pool Manager

Position Purpose: To maintain a constant vigil over all patrons of the pool while on duty.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must hold a current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
• Must complete PRT preseason training
• A Water Test must be passed to qualify
• Must have current CPR training at the time they begin lifeguarding duties

Performance Responsibilities:

• Enforces the rules and regulations for the pool operation and for the conduct of bathers as set by the Recreation Department
• Teaches and assists teaching PRT swimming classes
• Maintains a constant vigil over patrons in assigned areas and performs rescue for persons in distress
• Renders first aid and CPR when necessary
• Performs pool maintenance as needed
• Attends all lifeguard training scheduled before and during the summer swim season
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Terms of Employment: As determined by supervisor.

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
