This paid internship is expected to begin in Summer 2026 and continue through the end of the year, with a possibility of extension. The position is remote, located in Wichita, KS. This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in Wichita, KS.ResponsibilitiesEngage in the work of the Kansas State Office priorities with staff and volunteersApply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help promote policy issues and community engagement on family caregiving, health and welfare, and retirement securityEngage in the strategies to advance these issues and the events organized as part of these effortsResearch policy issues, draft documents to support our advocacy efforts, participate in team meetings and strategy discussions, collaborate in communications tactics, and engage in a support role for various virtual and in‑person eventsOther duties and responsibilities as identifiedQualificationsMust be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post‑doctoral student, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internshipPreference for students enrolled in a Public Administration, Public Policy, or Public Health programMust be a self‑starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlinesAbility to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work prioritiesAbility to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientationTechnical proficiency in Microsoft Office programsExceptional verbal/written communication skillsFamiliarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plusMaintain a local presence in Wichita, KSAARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.Additional RequirementsRegular and reliable job attendanceEffective verbal and written communication skillsExhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationshipsIndependent judgement in evaluation options to make sound decisionsHome office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate home environment noiseHybrid Work EnvironmentAARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions.
