Overview

Washes and stores properly all dishes, trays, eating utensils, cups, and small equipment for the department. Maintains the dish room and dish machine in a sanitary and efficient manner. Able to work as a team member with other kitchen and facility personnel.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

1. Sets up and breaks down dish machine, including arms, screens, and baskets. Cleans and polishes machine thoroughly including removing any paper and hosing down interior. Checks machine to be sure it is operating correctly and reports any defects immediately. Washes and stores in proper places all dishes, trays, utensils, cups and small equipment for the department. Checks water temperature during dishwashing operation to ensure proper temperature.
2. Fills 3-compartment sink as per regulations. Changes water when necessary.
3. Removes trash from kitchen and places in dumpster. Cleans and sanitizes garbage cans and keeps clean liners in cans at all times.
4. Cleans and keeps neat dishroom area including detergent and chemical storage and cart cleaning areas.
5. Keeps all hand sinks stocked with hand soap, sanitizer, and towels. Notifies Housekeeping department when hand soap running low.
6. Maintains accurate temperature logs on the dish machine.
7. Responsible for cleanliness of all pots and pans. Lets pots and pans dry thoroughly before putting away.
8. Keeps floors in dish area and kitchen clean and free from debris. Uses clean mop water and changes water as needed during mopping. Ensures that mop bucket is emptied before end of shift.
9. Maintains a professional appearance at all times, clean and well-groomed as per handbook and department standards.
10. Demonstrates complete understanding of department policies and procedures.
11. Displays an enthusiastic and positive approach to all assignments. Remains flexible when accommodating requests.
12. Develops a positive working relationship with department and organization staff. Avoids conflict.
13. Views as required, safety and risk management films and reviews fire safety and disaster plans.
14. Completes shift work as assigned, timely and thoroughly in accordance to department standards.

Qualifications

Education: High School or GED
