Position Summary:

The Global Director of Research and Development is the technical expert on "Wholesome Grains" platforms for Grupo Bimbo, responsible for developing new technologies, supporting business technical issues, and collaborating with external partners to optimize grains and flours for GB's recipes. Responsibilities include evaluating varieties for functionality and performance in products.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead data-driven research to improve product performance, nutrition, and clean labels by developing innovative, scientifically rigorous technologies and solutions. This involves creating new methodologies, standards, ingredients, and processing technologies.
  • Design, develop, and manage project plans and proposals, ensuring effective communication internally and externally.
  • Identify and gather technological needs from business units to address them effectively.
  • Transfer innovative technologies to application teams, focusing on platform integration.
  • Deliver projects on time, measure the effectiveness of solutions, and ensure commitments are met.
  • Ensure project compliance with Grupo Bimbo's guidelines, regulatory, nutritional, and safety standards.
  • Develop and activate external technological ecosystems.
  • Familiarize with platform priorities, ecosystems, and workflows through onboarding.
  • Plan and execute innovations within a phased framework validated within R&D.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Transfer technologies properly through collaboration with Tech Transfer Teams.
  • Develop and align annual business plans with strategic goals, quantifying outcomes like revenue and KPIs.
  • Communicate the function's strategy, aligning it with organizational mission, vision, and values, and motivate teams to achieve business goals.

Position Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Master's degree in Food Science, Cereal/Grain Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field. Strong skills in statistics and experimental design.
  • Preferred: Doctorate in Food Science or Cereal/Grain Chemistry.
  • 7-10 years of experience in the food industry, focusing on technology application in product development or related fields, especially milling industry technologies.
  • Language skills: Advanced English, Medium-Advanced Spanish.
