Job Description
45% - Compile and organize Kansas rock data in Excel databases. Correct typographical errors and other relevant information (e.g., datums/elevations). Use Excel databases to create structural maps in GIS.
45% - Measure and examine rocks in cores. Sample preparation includes making powders from rocks for laboratory analysis and cutting rock slabs for petrographic thin sections.
10% - Search for relevant data in published papers, maps, reports and KGS website databases and libraries. Interact with KGS scientists and library personnel to find or request needed information.
