Feeder Operator (17) - 2nd Shift

Description:

The Feeder Operator position in Lawrence is on 2nd shift (3:30pm - 11:30pm) Monday - Friday.Under the direction of the press operator, the Feeder Operator sets up, operates, and maintains a continual flow feeder unit on a press for commercial and Hallmark production. The Feeder Operator accounts for incoming stock, prepares press loads, and maintains necessary press supplies. Large Press Feeder Operators will assist both the Lead Operator and Assistant Press Operator in executing their press-related duties. This person will also have primary responsibility for maintaining a safe and orderly work area, waste management, and between-shift cleanup. Flexibility is key and individuals will operate as a floater, requiring them to lean to work on any of the primary printing presses and sheeter, and function in any capacity, depending upon work load and operator availability.Identifies potential problems, and shows willingness to proactively work on problem resolution and alternative solutions to traditional methods of operation. Flexibility is key as the incumbent will be expected to learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification.In this position you will:Perform make-ready duties on multiple press types with varying controls and production factors (speed, temperature, pressure, etc.).Read layout, tickets and have an understanding of downstream processes.Diagnose and perform machinery maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance functions.Execute the Quality System including preflights, sampling plan and the removal of salvage/spoilage.Prepare related paperwork/documentation for shipping accuracy, including completing production data and spoilage.Demonstrate the flexibility and teamwork to positively influence how goals are accomplished within the shorter periods of time.Utilize good safety practices.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalentSuccessful (as defined by Achieves or better performance rating) experience in 37 Packaging Operator classification OR equivalent Press Operator experience.Ability to frequently transfer stock weighing 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. May lift 70 pounds with assistance.Ability to stand and/or walk approximately 95% of the timeAbility to frequently reach, twist, bend, and perform repetitive hand/wrist motion and fine motor skillsAbility to occasionally work at or above shoulder levelPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSGood math, written and oral communication skills, and basic computer skillsAbility to understand the computer and ordering systems and successfully operate both systemsAbility to organize and set-up work area and re-organize as priorities change. Ability to work under pressureAbility to understand and follow established safety proceduresAbility to accept other duties as assignedAbility to learn and retain knowledgeAbility to work in a team environment and be able to contribute positively during problem solving sessionsADDITIONAL DETAILSWork overtime as required during peak seasons.This is a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with normal physical injury hazard.There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark.This position is located in Lawrence, Kansas.
